1970 340 short block, casting date 7/8/69.
This short block is all standard and appears to have never been apart.
Stock 4.
040 bore with NO ridge, at all.
Original cast 10.
5 pistons and forged steel crankshaft.
Standard Chrysler main and rod bearings, dated 9/69.
All original factory steel freeze plugs with original paint, none rust through.
Original timing cover and balancer.
Rubber in balancer looks good.
Timing cover looks amazing.
I've had this short block for decades on the shelf, as did the last two owners of it.
It has spent the majority of its life on the shelf.
Engine serial # FW340P2980 0574 cast and assembled at Windsor Ontario Plant.

I pull the center main cap and one rod cap to measure and look at the crank, looked good.
The cylinders aren't rusty, just dirty.
I wouldn't be surprised if cleaned and honed, rings, bearings, and a crank polish could bring this back to life.
