JOB Responsible for creating an outstanding experience at every interaction for both external and internal customers (students, faculty, administrators, and staff) seeking answers.
Armed with strong knowledge of the college policies, procedures, and systems and a passion for customer satisfaction, the student services technician provides answers to customers calling in or arriving on campus with questions about any aspect of the college in a friendly and professional manner.
Individuals in this non-exempt/hourly position are expected to be available during the normal business hours of the college, and may occasionally be asked to work non-traditional hours, including holidays and weekends, as needed.
May be required to work at various campuses depending on student services traffic.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES With tact and professionalism, assist with inbound phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries.
Support college wide operations by serving as a point of contact for college users of software, hardware, networking, and telecommunications questions and problems, and acting as an advocate for customers in obtaining and utilizing services.
Provide support to customers inquires about general information, including financial aid, registration, class scheduling, advising, and miscellaneous student information.
Convey correct information using databases provided.
Prepare a variety of technical documents, which involves: collecting and verifying information; assembling, compiling and printing reports; proofreading and distributing reports.
Handle highly sensitive information and confidential records and materials in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Process and maintain accurate and detailed records and documents; prepare student records and associated correspondence; data entry, document imaging, and retrieve information from databases and verify the completeness and accuracy of the information submitted.
Build rapport with customers via in-person contact, phone and web.
Accurately and thoroughly document call and visits in customer profiles.
Maintain all logs and reporting documentation as required.
Look for trends in calls, customer visits and notifies supervisor of abnormalities in patterns.
Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention to appropriate supervisor.
Perform follow-up procedures in a timely and consistent manner.
Make outgoing calls to existing and prospective students based on college goals.
May provide mentoring to new employees.
Maintain department quality and productivity standards.
Handling cash or money transactions, deposits, etc.
Adhere to college, federal and state administrative procedures, guidelines, initiatives and directives to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations affecting college operations.
Stay current with policy and procedure related to the college environment.
Perform other tasks of a similar nature or level as assigned.
